App Development Company in Lagos, Nigeria
Mobile apps, fintech backends and internal platforms built for the rails Lagos actually runs on: Paystack and Flutterwave, NIBSS Instant Payment, USSD, NIN and BVN verification, and the CBN and NDPR obligations that come with all of it.
We are a remote engineering team, not a Lagos agency. If you want the country-level view first, start with our overview of app development in Nigeria.
Built for Nigerian rails, not adapted to them afterwards
Most payment code written outside Nigeria assumes one processor, one card network and a settlement window that behaves. A Lagos product does not get that. It needs a route through Paystack and Flutterwave with Interswitch and NIBSS Instant Payment behind it, reconciliation that can tell a delayed NIP transfer from a failed one, and a fallback path through USSD banking for the customer whose data bundle ran out mid-checkout.
Identity is the second rail. Onboarding in Nigeria usually means a NIN or BVN check against NIMC or a bank partner, and the engineering question is not whether the API returns a match but what you are allowed to keep afterwards. We treat those identifiers as data to verify and discard rather than data to store, a position we explain in our guide to NIN and BVN verification integration.
Regulation sits on top of both. The CBN open banking framework sets how consented account data moves between licensed players, while the NDPR and the Nigeria Data Protection Act give the NDPC real authority over how you process personal data, which is why we design consent, retention and deletion as features in NDPR-compliant software rather than as a policy page.
And on 10 September 2026 the CBN told banks and fintechs to treat third-party technology risk as a financial stability issue. That changes architecture, not paperwork: single-processor designs, opaque upstream dependencies and untested failover become supervisory problems. We unpack what that means for build decisions in the CBN directive on third-party cyber risk.
Engineering Capabilities for Nigerian Products
What we can build and have the engineering depth to reason about, from the payment layer up.
Nigerian Payment Rails
Paystack, Flutterwave, Interswitch and NIBSS Instant Payment integrations with webhook reconciliation, idempotent retries and virtual account issuance.
USSD and Feature-Phone Flows
USSD banking journeys and session state machines for customers who transact without data, alongside the smartphone app rather than instead of it.
NIN and BVN Verification
Server-side identity checks through licensed providers, with minimal retention, encrypted storage and a full audit trail of every lookup.
CBN Open Banking Readiness
Consent-scoped API design aligned to the CBN open banking framework, so account data sharing is built once and not retrofitted under deadline.
NDPR and NDPA Engineering
Lawful basis per field, working consent withdrawal, retention jobs that actually delete, and a breach path that can meet the NDPC reporting window.
Offline-First Mobile
Local-first data stores, conflict resolution on sync and queued writes, so a dropped connection on the Third Mainland Bridge does not lose a transaction.
Low-End Android Performance
Budget bundles, lean images and interfaces tested on entry-level devices rather than on the newest phone in the office.
AI and Automation Backends
Document processing, fraud scoring and retrieval-based assistants built on top of your own data, with cost controls that survive naira and cloud price swings.
Four constraints that shape every Nigerian build
These are the conditions a Lagos product ships into. Ignoring them is the most common reason a technically correct app performs badly in the market.
Grid power is not a given
Systems that assume a machine is always on behave badly in Nigeria. We design for interrupted sessions, resumable jobs and queues that drain safely when a site comes back up, an approach we set out in building software around Nigeria power reliability.
Data is expensive and variable
Every megabyte the app pulls is money the customer pays. Payload budgets, cached reads and write queues matter more than any animation, which is the argument behind offline-first mobile apps for Nigerian connectivity.
The device is usually low-end
A large share of Nigerian users are on entry-level Android with limited memory and storage. We test against that floor and design for it, as covered in UI and UX design for low-end Android in Nigeria.
Naira volatility hits cloud cost
Dollar-denominated infrastructure makes architecture a budgeting decision. We size for a realistic cost envelope and explain the trade-offs in the cost of custom software development in Nigeria.
Sectors we write and build for
Lagos is the commercial and fintech centre of the country, and the Yaba and Lekki corridor is where most of the product teams we talk to sit. These are the domains where our own engineering writing goes deepest.
We have no Lagos office, and sometimes a Nigerian firm is the right call
Wise Hustlers Technologies Pvt Ltd is headquartered in Chandigarh, India. We work with Nigerian clients remotely, on a schedule that overlaps the Lagos morning, and we do not keep an entity, a desk or a delivery team in Nigeria. Anyone telling you otherwise on a landing page is describing a sales address, not an engineering one.
Hire a Lagos-based firm instead of us when the work needs a locally registered entity behind a CBN licence application, physical field operations, agent or POS network rollout, in-person user research across markets, or a partner who can sit in front of a regulator on your behalf. Those are real requirements and remote delivery does not satisfy them.
We are a good fit when the problem is engineering: payment and identity integrations that have to be correct under failure, a platform rebuild, offline-capable mobile, data and AI work, or a team that needs senior engineering capacity without hiring for it. We will tell you which of the two your project is before you pay us anything.
Cloud and deployment
Infrastructure sized against a realistic naira budget, with cost review built into architecture rather than discovered on the first invoice.
Code and IP ownership
Repositories, credentials and documentation are yours from day one. No proprietary runtime you have to keep paying us to touch.
Compliance as engineering
NDPR, CBN and third-party risk obligations translated into schema, jobs and failover design that an auditor can actually inspect.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you integrate Paystack, Flutterwave and NIBSS Instant Payment into a Nigerian app?
Yes. We build payment layers against Paystack, Flutterwave, Interswitch and NIBSS Instant Payment (NIP), including webhook-driven reconciliation, idempotent retries for failed or duplicated transfers, virtual account issuance, and USSD fallbacks for customers who are not on a smartphone or have no data balance.
How is NIN and BVN verification handled inside a Nigerian application?
NIN and BVN checks are done server-side through a licensed verification provider or a bank partner, never from the mobile client, because the raw identifiers must not be stored on the device or in analytics. We keep only a verification result, a match reference and a timestamp, encrypt the identifier at rest if the business genuinely needs to retain it, and log every lookup for audit under NIMC and CBN expectations.
Does software built for Nigeria have to comply with the NDPR and the Nigeria Data Protection Act?
Yes. Any system processing the personal data of people in Nigeria falls under the NDPR and the Nigeria Data Protection Act, enforced by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). In practice that means a lawful basis recorded per data field, working consent and withdrawal flows, retention and deletion that actually run, a documented data processing record, and a breach path that can meet the regulator deadline rather than a privacy page bolted on at launch.
What does the CBN expect from fintechs about third-party technology risk?
On 10 September 2026 the Central Bank of Nigeria told banks and fintechs to treat third-party technology risk as a financial stability issue, not a procurement footnote. For an engineering team that means knowing every upstream dependency a payment or identity flow rests on, designing degraded modes for when a provider is down, keeping an exit path off any single processor, and being able to produce evidence of that design rather than a vendor questionnaire.
Do you have an office in Lagos?
No. Wise Hustlers Technologies Pvt Ltd is headquartered in Chandigarh, India and delivers to Nigerian clients remotely, with working hours that overlap the Lagos morning. If your project needs a locally registered entity for a CBN licence application, in-person field operations, agent or POS network rollout, or a regulator-facing partner on the ground, a Lagos-based firm is the better choice and we will say so.
